A group of Soweto ladies saw an opportunity to create a living by opening their homes to the many tourists that visited Soweto’s historical sights.

In 2005, Southern Sun launched a pilot Corporate Social Responsibility project with the aim of training and mentoring previously disadvantaged ladies in Soweto to create successful sustainable businesses. Five guesthouses were identified and received basic business and hospitality training.

Over the last 3 years the project has grown substantially and we are proud to announce that we have a total of 39 Bed & Breakfast / Guesthouses nationwide, located in Soweto, Tshwane and Zuurbekom (Gauteng), Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal.
